Stepoli Talks Pitt Offer

Despite the loss, Pitt didn't hurt its impression set for Josh Stepoli. If anything, the Panthers seem to have an early edge.

Josh Stepoli is a 6-7, 265-pound offensive tackle from Greensburg Central Catholic. Earlier in the month, coming off a win over Mt. Pleasant, Stepoli got some much anticipated news.

"Coach (Greg) Gattuso called (Greensburg Central head coach) Muzzy (Colosimo), and told him that they were offering," Stepoli said. "Then, the next day, coach (Dave) Wannstedt called and told me I got offered. They're offering me for offense; left tackle."

Stepoli, in his first year at Greensburg Central Catholic after transferring over from Monessen High School, earned all-conference honors on the offensive line. The offer from Pitt was not too much of a surprise, but at the same time was welcome news.

"I am a Pitt fan, a real big Pitt fan," Stepoli said. "I just like their program, and their team. I like (Wannstedt) too. I talk to (offensive line) coach (Tony) Wise. I hadn't talked to him about the offer or anything."

Stepoli said despite Pitt's loss on Friday against West Virginia, he said that doesn't change his perspective of the school.

"It doesn't matter, they're still a good team," Stepoli said. "They had an off day. I'm hoping to come back for a couple of basketball games, too."
