Pitt basketball improved to a perfect 9-0 with a 87-68 win over Rider on Saturday afternoon at the Petersen Events Center.
For a second game in a row, Pitt's perimeter defense showed up against a hot-shooting three-point team. Rider entered Saturday's contest one of the nation's best three-point shooting teams, with a 44.6 percentage. Against Pitt Saturday, they shot just 7-of-21 (33 percent).
Pitt jumped out to a 42-29 lead at halftime, and never looked back. Paced by McGhee's rebounding, the Panthers held a 35-23 edge on the glass.
Pitt returns to action Wednesday night with a home game against Delaware State. Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
