It will now become official, as the University of Pittsburgh has called for a 4 pm press conference today, at which time it is expected that Mike Haywood will be introduced as the program's new head football coach.
Haywood, currently the head coach at Miami of Ohio, called a mandatory team meeting at 10 pm on Wednesday evening to meet with his players and inform them of his decision. Haywood was in Pittsburgh Wednesday meeting with school officials, after being the candidate that Athletic Director Steve Pederson zeroed in on.
He is expected to sign a five-year deal with Pitt. In two years at Miami, Haywood had a 9-14 record. Stay tuned for more on the hiring of Haywood.
