Pitt offers to Upper Merion OT Dave Weber

Looking for an offensive tackle that can really protect a quarterback's blindside? If so, then David Weber from King of Prussia (PA) Upper Merion is definitely the man for the job.

Coach Harris offered David a full scholarship during this weekend's Junior Day visit. David was extremely impressed with the Panthers and was very excited about his visit.

(Stat and achievement sheet included in article)

"I have given up only one sack in the past two seasons," Weber, who was selected to first team all-state as a junior, said. "I didn't allow a single sack my entire junior season. I had a lot of pancake blocks also."

College coaches are starting to take notice of the big 6-foot-4, 315-pound lineman's talent. Besides Pittsburgh, he has also been offered by Syracuse already. "I was at Pittsburgh's scrimmage this last weekend, " he said. "They call it Blue Chip Day. The coaches were real nice and I liked the town a lot. After the scrimmage, I talked with Coach Walt Harris. He offered me a scholarship and told me that I looked like a tough kid."

Weber, who is a solid student carrying a 3.5 grade point average in the classroom, will also visit his childhood favorite Penn State and Rutgers.

He is in no rush to make a decision but admitted that Penn State probably was the team to beat if the school offers him.

Weber will attend the Penn State team football camp this summer.
