Offical Visit Primer

Thursday was a pretty busy day in terms of new prospects confirming their official visit to Pittsburgh this weekend.


DESIMON GREEN

- Initially a Pitt DE commit over the summer, re-opened his recruitment following the coaching change
- told Scout.com after an official visit to Pitt's basketball game on Monday night that he would take a midweek visit to Pitt next week
- told Scout.com yesterday he would nix an official visit to Rutgers this weekend, in favor for an official visit to Pitt instead


LAQUENTIN SMITH

-nation's No. 22 middle linebacker prospect
- confirmed to Scout.com earlier this week that he would take an official this weekend
- also said he was "surprised" that Dave Wannstedt was fired, because he felt Pitt was already doing pretty good


FLOYD RAVEN

-Nation's No. 33 cornerback out of Reserve, Louisiana
- told Scout.com last week that he de-committed from Ole Miss last week, and that he might visit Pitt
- had an in-home with head coach Todd Graham and assistant coach Gary Norvell, where he decided to take the official to Pitt this weekend


MALCOLM CROCKETT

- nation's No. 41 running back
- initially a Cincinnati commit, told Scout.com he got an offer from the new staff last week, and that he would take an official visit this week
- recruited by new tight ends coach Tony Dews, while Dews was the receivers coach at Michigan


COREY DAVIS

- three-star running back from Gladewater High School in Texas
- rushed for over 1,700 yards and 28 touchdowns on his way to all-state honors
- with offers from Tulsa, Washington State and Wyoming in addition to Pitt; the Panthers are his only scheduled official visit.


KEYARRIS GARRETT

-6-5 receiver out of perennial Class 2A power Daingerfield High School in Texas
- also has plans for an official visit to Louisiana Tech following this weekend's visit to Pittsburgh


RODRICK RYLES

- a one-time Arkansas commit
- was recruited by Michigan, but not recruited by any of the former Michigan assistants who came over to the Pitt staff, according to him
- is now being recruited by Tony Gibson, and decided this week on taking an official visit to Pittsburgh.


JUSTIN OLACK

- initially committed to Pitt back in June
- remained committed to Pitt through two coaching changes
- wants to meet new coaching staff to re-affirm his commitment to the Panthers


DARIUS PATTON

- former Pittsburgh native who played at Penn Hills
- offered by Pitt assistant Tony Gibson the night Todd Graham was hired
- was also recruited by Gibson at Michigan


ISAAC BENNETT

- 5-11.5, 176-pound running back from Booker T. Washington High School confirmed to Scout.com Thursday night he would be taking an official visit to Pitt
- not the first time Pitt recruited at Booker T. Washington; Panthers had LB Roderick Humphrey, who was a linebacker at Pitt from 1993-97


DARRELL HUNTER

- 5-10, 170-pound corner from William T. Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida


CORMAC CRAIGIE

- California native confirmed to Scout.com on Thursday night he would take an official visit to Pitt this weekend
- in addition to playing at Trinity-Pawling in New York this past season, played at Piedmont (CA) where he was an Alameda County All-Star, and first-time all-Bayshore League selection, throwing for 1,596 yards and 18 touchdowns
