There's no offers yet for Ashland (PA) offensive lineman Jon Green, but the interest is picking up; this as Green gets set to send out another round of highlight videos from his 2010 season.
As a junior in 2010, Green earned all-county honors and was a first-team all-conference selection on both sides of the ball. He was also a second-team all-state selection. So far in the offseason, Green has been to a junior day at Rutgers.
"I'm just getting my stuff sent out," Green said. "There's probably around 35 schools. Right now, I've heard from Rutgers and Virginia, those are the only schools I've been in contact with. I'm going away this week. I figure once I get back, I'll start calling some of the other schools and figure out where their evaluations are."
Green is sending his updated highlight videos to in-state schools such as Pitt and Penn State. He was already at a Pitt game this past fall for an unofficial visit, and says he recently started getting mail from the new coaching staff.
"I just e-mailed their recruiting coordinator," Green said of Pitt. "I'm just waiting until I get in contact with them again. There was a big lapse in time, because of the coaching change, but I'm definitely starting to hear from them again."
Green says regardless of the coaching change, Pitt is a school he would like to keep in mind.
"When (Dave) Wannstedt was there, they ran more of a run-base offense, which was good for me," Green said. "We'll see what this new staff does."
Green lifts a total of five days a week, getting ready for football season next year, in addition to two days of speed and agility workouts. In a few weeks, Green will start up baseball at North Schuylkill where he is a third baseman for the school's baseball team.
