Another Pitt Visit For Davis

Austintown (OH) Fitch receiver Demitrious Davis takes second unofficial visit to Pitt out of last three weekends.

Junior receiver Demitrious Davis plays in a similar offense to the one Pitt is planning to run under Todd Graham. It's a big factor in why Davis has two unofficial visits to Pittsburgh this month, with another one planned later this spring, possibly the spring game.

"We run basically the same plays, the spread," Davis said of Pitt. "We play the same type of offense."

Fitch might not be as fast-pace, high-tempo as what Pitt is planning to run in 2011. Davis also gained an appreciation for the type of tempo Pitt is trying to establish. With offers in double-digits, Davis has his eyes on the pace of Pitt's offense.

"I didn't really see any schools besides Pitt, but I like the tempo," Davis said. "They're a fast-tempo team, like (Graham) ran at Tulsa. He said (the tempo at Saturday's practice) was slow."

Davis, his brother Chris Davis and Fitch running back William Mahone arrived at Pitt around 10 am Saturday, then spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon just watching Pitt's practice, then getting a quick tour of Pitt's practice facility.

Even better, according to Davis, was just getting another chance to meet with the Pitt coaches. One of the philosophies of this staff is that in most cases, they don't have specific geographic areas where they recruit. Defensive backs coach Tony Gibson has recruited Fitch in the past, and has a good relationship with the Ohio power, but it's receivers coach Mike Norvell also recruiting Davis.

"Coach Norvell, I talk to the most," Davis said. "I've talked to Coach Graham. Coach Gibson I talk to a lot, those two mainly. Me and Coach Norvell, we have a real good relationship. I just like how he does things. I like at practice, seeing (the receivers), how he yells at players if they do something right or wrong."

Davis said that Norvell also showed a film clip, similar to what his position would be at Pitt. He and his brother also had a chance to meet with Graham, one-on-one, before heading home. He expects that he'll be back at Pitt for another unofficial visit later this spring. As for other spring plans, Davis plans on being at the Nike Football Training Camp in Columbus in May.
