It's tough for Reserve (LA) East Saint John defensive tackle Gerron Borne to get out and get to any spring practices. His own spring game at East Saint John will be May 16. After that, though, he's already got one place in mind that he'd like to camp at.
"I'll probably try to go to camps in the summer," Borne said. "Tennessee, that would be the first school to go to, yes sir."
Looking ahead to the fall, another school Borne indicated is in his top five is Pittsburgh. He's been pleased with what he's heard from head coach Todd Graham and receivers coach Mike Norvell, who has recruited Louisiana for Pitt.
"They show me a lot of love," Borne said of Pitt. "Coach Graham shows a lot of love. He gets fired up. He said they need defensive tackles that can come in and make a major impact. That's a real big thing, and I'm really looking forward to getting up there. They'd really like to come up there, and they said I was the first guy they offered in Louisiana."
Borne even has the game picked out, for when he comes to Pittsburgh. He also has an idea of what he'd like to know about the place.
"I'm trying to set my visit for when they play Notre Dame (on September 24)," Borne said. "I'll most probably take my official visit then. I want to see the town, see the city, the school, then the campus. I like how they share the facility with the Pittsburgh Steelers. I want to see all that, and meet the players and the coaching staff."
Borne, who plays strictly on defense, finishe with 45 tackles as a junior, including 12 tackles for losses and eight sacks. He earned all-district and all-parish honors as a junior as well.
