Shansky Will Camp At Pitt

Shansky earned the overall MVP award at the recent Schuman's National Underclassman Combine in Pittsburgh.

Michael Shansky is a 6-1, 219-pound linebacker out of Blackhawk High School that credited a tough Parkway Conference schedule for helping him earn MVP honors at the Schuman's National Underclassman Combine last week. He also competed at the Nike Sparq Combine in Pittsburgh last month.

Hopewell's Rushel Shell, New Castle's John Matarazzo, Montour's Julian Durden and Central Valley's Robert Foster are just a few of the names he had to battle with this past season, and again in 2011.

"The Parkway Conference in the WPIAL is really rough," Shansky said. "(Schuman's) was also rough, but it felt good. I had to adjust. On-field transitions are a little rough at first. Trying to not make contact, but still stay physical at the same time."

Shansky ran a 4.68 as a linebacker, had a 30-inch vertical leap and also finished with 23 bench press reps at 185 pounds.

As for camps, Shansky is planning to be at one of the Pitt prospect camps. He is also expected to be at a few MAC schools for their prospect camps, and a few Ivy League schools as well.
