Interest Picks Up For Goins

Gilman (MD) running back Kenneth Goins is up to five offers, and would like to take even more visits once track season is over.

Gilman School (MD) had four-star Virginia signee Darius Jennings at quarterback and a pair of four-star running backs for 2012 in Cyrus Jones and Kenneth Goins. Goins admits he's the short-yardage back, and he's proved that he didn't need to rush for a lot of yards in 2010 to get the five offers he has so far—Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and West Virginia.

For example, Goins had a pair of big touchdown runs that helped his team to an important with over DeMatha Catholic.

"I wasn't like much of a factor at running back, but they put me in when we needed a short yardage touchdown," Goins added.

Goins hasn't been able to get to many spring practices because of a busy track schedule, where the 5-10, 210-pound standout runs the 100, the 200 and is a member of the 4x100 relay. He does have a few visits in the near future planned.

"I think I'm going to West Virginia this weekend for the spring game, but I haven't been to any other spring games," Goins said. "I'm going to Penn State again this summer. I think we're going to camp again. I'm going to visit Georgia Tech—those were the two I'm going to get to. Other camps as a team, I'm not sure yet."

Pitt is also one of those offers. It's also possible that Goins could get there for a visit, but he's unsure.

"I haven't heard much from them, but my coach (Biff Poggi) was telling me about them, but I haven't really talked to them a lot, so we'll see," Goins added. "I'm not too sure."
