Green Checks On Three Schools

North Schuylkill lineman Jon Green reports on his visits to Pitt, Rutgers and Temple.

North Schuylkill (PA) lineman Jon Green went to spring practices at Rutgers and Temple, and was also in Pittsburgh for the spring game a few weeks ago. Despite the rainy conditions in Pittsburgh, Green had a good opportunity to get to know some members of the Pitt coaching staff.

"They were doing a lot of good things," Green said of the Panthers. "It was pretty intense. I liked the way they were going at it. I talked to (receivers) coach (Mike) Norvell, (offensive line) coach (Spencer) Leftwich, and (safeties) coach (Randall) McCray. Coach Norvell is coming by school soon, I believe."

Green will camp at Pitt on June 4. When he went to the Rutgers spring practice, he got a better idea of where the Scarlet Knights stand in terms of offering him. Brian Angelichio is recruiting him at Rutgers.

"The Rutgers practice, it was great," Green said. "I really enjoyed that a lot. It was real upbeat. The coaching staff was really into it. It was a really neat experience. They practiced in the dome.

"They said they're probably going to offer in June, after I come up for a camp. That was the first time they said they were going to take a chance, so that was good."

When he went for the Temple camp, he met with offensive line coach and new head coach Steve Addazio.

"Temple was great," Green said. "(Offensive line) coach (Justin) Frye, I really like. He's my offensive line coach and my recruiter. May 29, I'm going to camp. He said the day after should be a good idea of where I am with them. He said if I come in and play well, I could be walking out with an offer. I really like that. Coach Addazio is real upbeat. I like the whole operation."

In addition to May 29 at Temple, Green expects to be at Pitt June 4, possibly even June 11. He'll be back at Rutgers on June 13. Green may also head to camp at East Carolina, and could also be at some I-AA schools after that.

"We'll see how it goes," Green added.
