Whittaker Gets New Offer

Chaz Whittaker is still planning which prospect camps he'll go to over the next month or so. He got a pleasant surprise this week, when in the midst of exploring some camp options, he picked up an offer.

In the midst of mapping out his summer schedule of camps, Penn Hills safety Chaz Whittaker picked up an offer from Pitt.

"(The Pitt coaching staff) called one of my coaches, and my coaches called me, and told me to call Pitt," Whittaker said. "I called them, and they told me they wanted to give me an offer to the University of Pittsburgh."

The 6-2, 170-pound Whittaker wasn't so much relieved to just get that first offer, as much as he was proud to get an offer from his hometown school.

"Yeah, it was pretty exciting," Whittaker added. "It really does mean a lot coming from them. It's real exciting."

Whittaker isn't stopping there with the new offer from Pitt. He is planning to get to prospect camps at Cincinnati, Maryland, West Virginia and Penn State—all schools he has received mail from. Whittaker will also compete at some more 7-on-7 events. He is expected to travel to Florida with his Western PA Swag team to compete at an event, and will also compete at a number of 7-on-7 camps with his Penn Hills team, including a 7-on-7 event at Woodland Hills High School on June 7.
