Mike Strizak, a 6-3, 225-pound linebacker out of Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey, is used to seeing a revolving door of interest at his school. He's seen it for the players who have graduated before him, and now he's seeing his own interest jump.
Strizak is up to nine offers, and continues to see new schools jump in the mix.
"Oregon and Michigan State are the latest ones, but there's not really too many other new ones," Strizak said. "The school is like a train station every day. There are brand new coaches coming in every day. Whoever comes through shows a little bit of interest."
One of those schools coming by to show interest is Pitt, a school that has been active at Don Bosco Prep in recent years. This year, it's now Paul Randolph in charge of recruiting Bosco. From the sounds of things, he's off to a good start.
"Paul Randolph has been my recruiter, and he seems like a really good guy," Strizak said. "Two of my former teammates are there in Brandon Sacco and Bryan Murphy. I'm getting a little feedback from them, and how they like the new coaching staff. So far, it's pretty good. (Murphy) said the outside linebacker coach is a real good guy, a real funny guy too."
He also got some good tips from a former Pitt commit, who signed on with another school.
"I've heard from (2011 Rutgers signee) Gary Nova," Strizak said. "He's a former commit there. I've heard from he and his father that Pitt's facilities are top-notch. They share a facility with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he said the facilities are absolutely gorgeous. They play at Heinz Field, and that's an amazing facility."
In fact, the facilities are one draw in why Strizak would like to take a visit out to Pittsburgh at some point this summer. He also has a few other visits mapped out.
"I probably want to get to know the new coach a lot better," Strizak said. "Other than that, I'd just love to see the school, see the facilities and see what Pitt's campus is like. There are a lot of schools trying to get me out there. I'm just trying to get their schedule with my (offseason) schedule.
Strizak earned all-county and was an honorable metion all-state performer at linebacker last year.
