Gonzalez Status Updated

While the big news of the day came in regards to Pitt getting a big-time quarterback prospect for the future, head coach Todd Graham updated the status of one its current quarterbacks.

Anthony Gonzalez was suspended indefinitely in May. Gonzalez was charged with underage drinking and possession of a small amount of marijuana. He has his arraignment set for September 1 in Bethlehem.

Thursday, head coach Todd Graham announced that Gonzalez will serve a two-game suspension. He will participate in training camp--which kicks off on August 8--and is also subject to additional "internal accountability."

"A championship program has to be built on accountability and discipline, on and off the field," Graham said in a statement. "We know Anthony will learn from this experience and be better for it moving forward."

Gonzalez was selected as the offensive recipient of the Ed Conway Award, given annually to the team's most improved player at the end of spring drills.
