Render Decides On Panthers

Render finished with 78 tackles, 9 sacks, 15 quarterback hurries, 5 forced fumbles and 28 tackles for losses as a junior, helping St. Edward to a state championship in 2010.

Pitt picked up commitment No. 13 today, as Lakewood (OH) St. Edward linebacker/defensive end Darryl Render decided on the Panthers today.

Render is the fifth player from the state of Ohio to join the Panthers' 2012 recruiting class, choosing the Panthers over offers from Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Miami of Ohio, Iowa, Ohio, Toledo and West Virginia.

Render was in Pittsburgh for the spring game in April, and was recruited by assistant coach Randall McCray. He played at 6-2, 200 pounds as a junior, and has bulked up to 6-3, 250 pounds for his senior year. He is expected to come in as a Panther back in the Pitt defense.

St. Edward will kick off its 2011 season this Saturday night against Glenville at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
