Billy Aaron finished up his junior season at Austintown-Fitch a couple of weeks ago. Despite having a few Division I prospects on the team (Will Mahone-Notre Dame, Demitrious Davis-Pitt, Chris Davis-Pitt), there was still plenty of room for Aaron to make contributions on both sides of the ball.
Aaron finished with seven touchdowns on offense, and actually led his team in yards per carry. He credited his teammates for simply pushing him this season.
"My teammates, they definitely motivate me more," Aaron said. "Just having guys like that—going to Division I schools—makes me feel good about myself, each and every day. There's always something different. It's showed me that hard work pays off."
Aaron, of course, has a verbal offer from Pitt. He came to Pitt's first prospect camp in June, and has also been at a few games this season, including Saturday's loss to Cincinnati. Despite the loss, Aaron is still interested in the Panthers.
"I loved it, Pitt's definitely a great school and a great city," Aaron said. "They came close these last couple of games. I definitely think they've been clicking. Having Ray Graham out, I think, had a lot to do (with Saturday's loss)."
Aaron has also been impressed with the first-year Pitt coaching staff. He's seen the recruiting efforts with two of his teammates a part of the 2012 recruiting class.
"They're a great group of guys," Aaron said. "They definitely seem like they're all close; the recruits. They coach their guys well, and they're definitely putting a team together."
Does Aaron have plans to get to any more college games for unofficial visits before the season is over?
"I definitely want to catch that last game, the (Pitt-)Syracuse game. Right now, I pretty much love Pitt. They came through first, my first offer, so I'm showing them a lot of respect."
