Corey Jones committed to Pittsburgh after Pitt's opening win over Buffalo. There's not much more Jones needed to see on his official visit weekend. Instead, he spent some time getting to know his future teammates and learning from the coaches what his position might be.
"I know I'm going to be playing wide receiver, they just showed me how they want me to be (in the offense)," Jones said. "They said they're trying to use me next year, so I'm not complaining about that."
Jones' host was former Penn Hills teammate Brandon Ifill. He's remained close with Ifill since he graduated two years ago. Jones said most of his time was spent getting to know other members of his recruiting class such as Rushel Shell, Dakota Conwell and Chad Voytik—who was an unofficial visitor this weekend. He and Conwell were on the same 7-on-7 team over the summer. Getting to know Voytik, a little, was a plus.
"Just getting to know the guy who's going to throw to you," Jones said.
Aside from taking a closer look at his position, and learning that from the coaches, Jones said he enjoyed getting to visit with the coaches away from the football side of things.
"I spent a lot of time with the coaches; when we ate at Heinz Field," Jones added. "It was cool to meet with the players, but it was just a good visit. It was very interesting."
