Senior offensive lineman Lucas Nix received notice on Thursday of three summary offenses for an incident near his home on December 26. The three summary offenses include public drunkenness, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
As a result of the three summary offenses, Nix was not arrested. A police officer called to the scene summarized the incident, which led to Nix receiving the summary offenses today through the mail. Officials at Pitt also learned of the incident today.
It does leave Nix's status for Saturday up in the air. He is Pitt's most experienced offensive lineman with 35 career starts. Interim head coach Keith Patterson issued a statement through a university spokesman Thursday evening.
"I was informed tonight of an incident involving Lucas Nix during the holiday break. Before any determination is made on his status for Saturday's bowl game, I want to make sure I have all the necessary information about the occurrence to make the right decision. Lucas was not arrested and just learned of these summary charges tonight."
