Geter Meets New Staff

Marzett Geter and a handful of Pitt commmits stopped by to meet new Pitt head coach Paul Chryst as he was moving into his new office.

For Marzett Geter, it's once a Pitt man, always a Pitt man.

The first player to commit to the 2012 recruiting class says there is no chance of him changing his decision. Geter was one of a handful of prospects—mostly committed prospects—to drop in on new head coach Paul Chryst, after he came back from Pitt's bowl game on Sunday.

"It was me, (Deaysean) Rippy, the Davis twins (Chris and Demitrious), Trenton Coles and Dakota Conwell," Geter said. "I talked with Coach Chryst, and visited with him. It was great."

What's refreshing about Geter's maintained interest in Pitt is the fact he was a sought out target by the previous coaching staff. Chryst has maintained an early interest, and will honor Geter's commitment. Asked about his impression of Chryst, only one thing comes to mind.

"It's exciting," Geter said. "It's very exciting just meeting him. He just seems like the perfect man for the job. I'm just excited to be around him."

As for where that excitement comes from, or why there's cause to be excited?

"He's coming from Wisconsin, they're a pretty good program," Geter said. "They're a pro-style team, and he's going to bring the pro-style back to Pittsburgh."

Pretty interesting, and refreshing, to hear from a player recruited with the idea of the previous system in place.

Geter was initially planning on taking his official visit to Pittsburgh this coming weekend. He says that is still on tap. He says that Trenton Coles will also take his official visit this weekend, and he also expects William Parks to be in town as well.
