Tyrell Sales will be busy this summer

Like many top-rated football prospects, linebacker Tyrell Sales is busy making plans for summer. The 6-3 and 225 standout from Butler (PA) will visit a host of schools, including Michigan, Notre Dame, Virginia, Penn State, and Pittsburgh.

"All of my favorites have offered officially except Michigan and Notre Dame," said Tyrell Sales, who was selected all-conference and all-county as a junior. "Michigan said that they wanted to offer me in person and Notre Dame wanted me to workout in person before they offered. I want to workout on all my (camp) visits so I can see what the coaches are like."

At this time Sales is open, but the teams that interest him most are Pittsburgh, Penn State, Notre Dame, and Virginia.

Where do the Panthers stand with him?

"Pittsburgh was my favorite team growing up because it was close to home," he said. "I like the city plus it's not too far from home or too close to home. There's a good opportunity to play early there plus I like Pittsburgh's coach Bray and defensive coordinator coach Rhodes."

At one time Sales wanted to decide early but he might wait for a bit.

"I'll probably won't wait until February," he said. "It will be before that but I don't know when."

Sales compares himself to the former Penn Hills linebacker standout Ron Graham, who signed with the Penn State Nittany Lions back in the late 90's.

"Some people say I play like Ron Graham," he said. "I make a lot of big hits and I make plays from sideline to sideline. I think I had like 20-30 tackles for a loss last year."

Sales, who is an excellent student (3.6/1030), is making education one of his top priorities.

"I'm looking for a school where I can get a good education," he said. "One that has a good background that will help me get into the workforce. I want to major in criminal justice so I can work for the FBI."
