Chris Barczyk is putting up the numbers

Chris Barczyk, a defensive tackle from McDowell (PA), could end up being a diamond in the rough with his outstanding testing numbers. The Northeastern PA native has the attention of three schools, including Pittsburgh.

"I'm getting letters on a regular basis from Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and Richmond," the second team all-metro defender said. "I probably get letters from Pittsburgh every other week. In the letters they are encouraging me to keep working hard."

Chris Barczyk lists Penn State, Pittsburgh, Richmond, and Buffalo as his top four schools.

What does he like about Pitt?

"Pittsburgh has nice facilities and it looks like they have a nice field to play on," he said.

Barczyk describes his style of play as fast off the ball and hard-hitting. After hearing how well he tested at the Penn State Nike camp, it's easy to believe the description of his play.

"I ran a 4.8 40 and I benched-pressed 185 pounds 35 times," he said.

What exactly is he looking for in a school?

"I'm looking for a school that has a good combination of academics and football," he said.

Barczyk also excels off the field. He carries a solid 3.3 grade point average and a 23 score on the ACT test.
