Morelli weighing options

This week The released it's rankings and Pittsburgh (PA) Penn Hills quarterback Anthony Morelli came out on top at his respective position. The last time the Pitt Insider caught up with the Morelli family a decision among Pittsburgh, Florida State and Notre Dame were to come around the beginning of August. With the recent expansion of the ACC expansion, things have changed somewhat.

"With the Big East losing Miami and Virginia Tech, we do not want to rush into a decision, father, Greg Morelli, said. "We want to see what kind of competition the Big-East will have. Anthony Morelli still feels the same about all of the teams. We still love Coach Harris and we know what he can do for Anthony's game."

In a few weeks Morelli will attend the Elite 11 quarterback camp in California. An unofficial visit to Notre Dame is also works this summer. Because of time constraints and a tight family budget, the Morelli's might hold off visiting Florida State in August or even sometime in the fall. No timetable has been set yet.

Right now Pittsburgh, Florida State and Notre Dame are the top three teams for the services of the 6-foot-4 and 210 pound Penn Hills high quarterback. However, UCLA has crept back into the picture somewhat.

"UCLA is still in the mix," Gary Morelli said. "UCLA is probably the only place I would move to because it's a five hour plane ride. "Tallahassee is only about an hour and forty-five minutes away."

In the writer's opinion, it appears that the Morelli's are wide open. If it weren't for the Big-East losing Miami and Virginia Tech, the Panthers would most likely be the team to beat because of the relationship between the Morelli's and Walt Harris and the location to home. Right now, it is anyone's guess.
