Challingsworth Is A Panther

Zach Challingsworth becomes Pitt's second commit of the week, and sixth overall in the Pitt class of 2013.

Pitt added its second commit of the week on Friday afternoon, as Zach Challingsoworth informed via text message that he has committed to the Panthers.

"Just letting you know that I just called coach Paul Chryst and committed to Pittsburgh," Challingsworth said.

Friday, Challingsworth started off informing receivers coach Bobby Engram.

"I actually called coach Engram first, since I was the closest with him throughout the process," Challingsworth said. "Once I told him, he was really excited. I'm blessed to have the opportunity to be coached by this staff. It's a great family."

In addition to Engram, Challingsworth likes Chryst and the rest of the staff's offensive philosophy. Even though Chryst hasn't coached a game at Pitt, Challingsworth is familiar with what Chryst did at Wisconsin as an offensive coordinator.

"That factored in a lot," Challingsworth said. "You want to be part of something like this, and I feel like I fit in. On offense, whenever each player has role, even when one playeer is successful, it's everyone coming together. Everyone has a specific role, all at once. Once you fill that, the sky is the limit. It shows how good this 2013 recruiting class can be."

Already on board with Pitt, Challingsworth has already become close with the other members of his class. He also talks about some other players he would like to see join him in his class. Interestingly, some come at the same position--but it speaks all the more about Challingsworth's character.

"I actually just met one of lineman (Aaron Reese)," Challingsworth said. "I know (Scott) Orndorff. He was my rival from high school. I get to join up with him. I just talked to Tony Harper. I just watched his film, and he's an amazing player. I'm excited to be at home.

"Now, with all the receivers that Pitt is recruiting, I have to talk to Tyler Boyd, Devin Wilson and Robert Foster. I have to talk to those guys, and get them to come. We are just trying to do something special. It's a team. If there's a guy out there that's better than me--there's always guys better than me--it will help me be the best. If we continue to do that--get guys like Wilson, Foster, Boyd--the sky is the limit."
