"Pittsburgh's recruiting coordinator called my head coach on the phone and said that they were going to offer me," the all-county offensive lineman said. "I called Coach Harris on the phone and we talked for a bit. He told me that he really liked my footwork and for me to concentrate on my schoolwork. A week later I got the official offer in the mail."
The first few years in high school, Clowser didn't apply himself properly. He greatly improved his grades his junior year and only needs a slight improvement on either his grade point average or test score.
"I really started to buckle down in my junior year," he said. "I got a 3.5 for last year and I scored a 17 on the ACT. I still take the SAT another four times."
Clowser credits his physical skills and intelligence for his success on the field.
"A lot of players play crazy but I like to use my head on the field," he said. "I also play to the whistle. I like to keep going."
Right now Pittsburgh, Ohio State, and Notre Dame are the top three schools on his short list. The Panthers are the team to beat and a commitment from him could be coming soon.
"I'm going to visit Pittsburgh's campus on the 28th", he said. "I might possibly make a commitment to them then. I like the fact that they are only two and half hours away from my home."
