Pitt offers to C.J. Hunnicutt

C.J. Hunnicutt, a 6-5, 215-pound outside linebacker from Bradenton (Fla.) Manatee, is drawing quite a crowd with several schools offering scholarships, including Pittsburgh. Here's what he had to say to Pitt Insiders about his recruitment and style of play.

"I have verbal offers from Iowa State, South Florida, East Carolina, Auburn, and Pittsburgh," the first team all-state standout in 5A competition said. "Ohio State said that they are close to offering me also. I would say the top five right now is Miami, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, and South Florida."

So what does the 6-5, 215-pound linebacker think of the Panthers?

"I'm real impressed with the coach that's recruiting me," he said. "He's very enthusiastic. Pittsburgh is telling me that they will still be there for me if the big schools don't come through. My coach has been up there and he's been telling me a lot of good things about them.

What makes him stand out?

"I have a lot speed and I play the game fast," he said. "I talk a lot of trash on the field and I tell the offensive linemen that they can't catch me."

As a junior, C.J. Hunnicutt used his 4.65 speed to rack up 22 sacks, 8 tackles for a loss, and three caused fumbles.

Hunnicutt is on track to fully qualify with a core grade point average of 2.4 and an 890 on the SAT test.

The Bradenton Manatee linebacker will take all of his official visits and then decide on the school of his choice on Nation Signing day in February.
