Sunseri Earns Big East Honor

Tino Sunseri sparked the Pitt offense to 537 yards, its highest output since a 42-21 win over Boston College in 2000.

A week after a two-interception, six sack performance at Cincinnati, Pitt quarterback Tino Sunseri was named Big East Player of the Week on Monday. It's the second time Sunseri earned the honor. He was also named Big East Offensive Player of the Week last year for his performance against UConn.

"The exciting thing is that he can get better, too," Head Coach Paul Chryst said. "He earned being Big East player of the week."

Sunseri completed 19-of-28 passes (68%) for 283 yards with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception in Saturday's win of Virginia Tech. He was also sacked just once.

In the first half of Saturday's game, Sunseri completed 10-of-14 passes (71%) for 185 yards and 1 touchdown. Through three games this season, Sunseri has completed 62-of-95 passes (65%) for 800 yards, 5 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
