Pardner Out For The Season

Jahmahl Pardner played in all three games as a reserve corner, and will now miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL.

Paul Chryst received some bad news on Tuesday, as it was announced that freshman corner Jahmahl Pardner tore the ACL in his left knee. Pardner will have surgery Friday and miss the remainder of the season.

Pardner played in all three games this season as a reserve corner, and finished with a sack, forced fumble and tackle for loss in Saturday's win over Virginia Tech.

With the loss of Pardner, it likely means Ryan Lewis will play in his spot as an extra defensive back. Cullen Christian started the first two games at corner, and could also replace Pardner's spot.

With the loss of Pardner after just three games, it's likely he'l enter 2013 as a redshirt freshman. There have been a number of players who have been injured this early in the season, yet still taken a redshirt. Former defensive lineman Gus Mustakas was injured in the second game of the 2007 season. He took a redshirt that year, and played for two more seasons after that. Jason Pinkston injured a shoulder In the third game of 2007, and took a redshirt. Chris Jacobson injured his knee in the third game of last year, and we able to redshirt and gain a sixth year of eligibility.

In addition to Pardner, three other true freshmen have gotten in games this year; Rushel Shell, J.P. Holtz and Darryl Render.
