Weekend Prospect Recap

If it's fireworks you want, look no further than the WPIAL's Class AA division where Shai McKenzie, Zach Challingsworth and Dravon Henry are all on a crash course to meet up at some point.

Michael Keir completed 7-of-10 passes for 83 yards and one touchdown as Philadelphia (Pa.) Roman Catholic completed its regular season with a 5-3 record (not including a suspended game with Monsignor Bonner). Keir has thrown for 1,406 yards and nine touchdowns and has more than 4,100 yards passing for his career.

Brandon Chatmon posted seven tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery Saturday as Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Charter defeated Philadelphia (Pa.) Communications Tech, 41-8, in a Philadelphia Public League Class AA semifinal game. Chatmon has now posted 39 tackles (23 solo), five sacks, eight QB hurries, two deflected passes, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and a blocked punt in eight games, averaging 4.9 tackles per game.

Matt Galambos rushed 24 times for 88 yards and scored two touchdowns as Philadelphia (Pa.) Haverford School defeated Philadelphia (Pa.) William Penn Charter, 27-6. Galambos moved to running back in Week 3, and has emerged as the Fords' featured running back, totaling 665 yards and five touchdowns on 122 carries.

Ryan Winslow was a perfect 4-for-4 on extra points Friday as Wyndmoor (Pa.) LaSalle College High School defeated Philadelphia (Pa.) West Catholic, 28-26. Winslow has now converted 31 extra points and five field goals for the Explorers. Jaryd Jones-Smith, meanwhile, was fronting a West Catholic offensive unit which helped sophomore quarterback Antwain McCollom throw for a school single-game record 336 yards. McCollom threw for two touchdowns in the narrow loss, West Catholic's third of the season. LaSalle improved to 8-1.

Junior Joseph and the West Lawn (Pa.) Wilson defense emerged victorious over Millersville (Pa.) Penn Manor, 14-7, Friday. Despite being outgained 243-160, Wilson's staunch defense forced five turnovers of Penn Manor (two recovered fumbles, three interceptions) and returned one of the interceptions for a touchdown. Penn Manor had committed only four turnovers through its first eight games. Junior Joseph also scored what proved to be the game-clinching touchdown on a 2-yard run - he finished with 10 carries for 15 yards.

Roman Clay rushed for 313 yards - his fourth game of 200+ yards rushing in 2012 - and scored four touchdowns on only 13 carries Friday as Lancaster Catholic clubbed Cornwall (Pa.) Cedar Crest, 49-0. Clay has totaled 1,769 yards and 22 touchdowns on 190 carries in nine games, helping him surpass 5,000 career rush yards in the process. He's averaging 196.6 yards per game on the ground and is just 130 yards away from his career-high of 1,899 yards in a season, set last year.

Bethlehem (Pa.) Liberty notched its second victory of the season Friday night, defeating Northampton, 21-14. K.J. Williams caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Doug Erney and has hauled in a team-leading 49 passes for 763 yards and eight touchdowns through nine games.

Monaca (Pa.) Central Valley fell to Beaver Falls, 36-35, in a nonconference game Friday night to close out the regular season. The Warriors got a touchdown apiece from Robert Foster (his 18th total TD of the season) and Jordan Whitehead (his 13th total touchdown), but won't enjoy Foster's services for its upcoming WPIAL AAA playoff game Friday night. Foster was ejected from the game, and, under PIAA rules, must serve a one-game suspension. Beaver Falls' Brock Boxen helped to keep quarterback Dan Stratton upright to find Elijah Cottrill for a pair of touchdown passes as well as the game-winning two-point conversion on a pass to Dorian Graves. Both Beaver Falls and Central Valley are 7-2 overall.

Devin Wilson caught a career-best five touchdown passes, spanning 19, 11, 40, 26 and 5 yards as part of an 11-reception, 168-yard performance to close out the regular season as McKees Rocks (Pa.) Montour defeated Moon Area, 42-21, Friday night. Wilson also rushed for 28 yards on three carries, raising his season totals to 57 receptions for 922 yards and 13 touchdowns and 489 yards rushing on 62 carries with five more touchdowns. He also adds 39 tackles, two interceptions and a fumble recovery defensively.

James Conner rushed 16 times for 156 yards and scored three touchdowns as Erie (Pa.) McDowell defeated Erie (Pa.) Strong Vincent, 45-6, Friday. Conner has now rushed for 1,158 yards for the Trojans, who have won two consecutive games.

Scott Orndoff hauled in a five-yard touchdown reception from Luke Brumbaugh as Seton-LaSalle closed its regular season with a 19-7 victory over South Park Friday night.

Shai McKenzie erupted in Washington's season finale against Waynesburg Central, establishing a new career high for rush yards in a single game (324) and scoring six touchdowns on runs of 80, 5, 54, 59, 2 and 52 yards in a 69-6 blowout. McKenzie has also set a new school single-season rushing record, with 1,912 yards, and has scored 27 total touchdowns for Washington, which completed its regular season with a perfected 9-0 record. The Little Presidents are averaging 45.5 points per game.

Zach Challingsworth caught seven passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns Friday as McDonald (Pa.) South Fayette shut out South Allegheny, 42-0, to cap a perfect 9-0 regular season, the Lions' second in the last three years. Challingsworth has snared a team-best 46 passes for 952 yards and scored a team-leading 14 touchdowns.

Elijah Zeise recorded four solo tackles in Wexford (Pa.) North Allegheny's 42-0 whitewashing of rival North Hills Friday, moving the Tigers' junior to 22 tackles (20 solo), two interceptions and four deflected passes.

Tyler Boyd rushed for 127 yards and scored three touchdowns on the ground to help Clairton thrash Imani Christian Academy Friday night. Boyd has run for 1,184 yards and scored 27 total touchdowns for the Bears - 20 of which have been rushing. Boyd's career rushing total sits at 4,259 yards.

Pittsburgh (Pa.) North Catholic's P.J. Fulmore rushed for 152 yards and scored two touchdowns in leading Pittsburgh (Pa.) North Catholic to a 35-8 victory over Leechburg Friday. Fulmore closed out his regular season by rushing for 1,292 yards. North Catholic will compete in the WPIAL A playoffs next weekend.

Chandler Kincade connected on 16-of-19 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns to help Beaver Falls (Pa.) Blackhawk to a WPIAL AAA playoff berth with a 34-20 victory over Ambridge Friday. Kincade raised his season passing totals to 1,883 yards and 14 touchdowns, and he'll be making his inaugural WPIAL playoff debut for the Cougars next Friday. In the Ambridge game, Kincade surpassed 3,000 career yards passing - he's now up to 3,168 for his career.

Andrew Ford finished with another sensational stat line, but Cedar Cliff dropped its fourth game in five weeks, 44-34, to Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt. Ford completed 24-of-38 passes for 366 yards and four touchdowns, raising his season totals to 190-of-282 for 2,564 yards with 32 touchdowns against seven interceptions. Cedar Cliff is 5-4 overall, but at one point was 4-0.

Aliquippa wrapped up its third consecutive undefeated regular season with a 39-7 victory over rival Beaver Area Friday. Dravon Henry scored a touchdown on a 26-yard run and the Aliquippa defense returned a pair of interceptions for touchdowns in the win. Jaleel Fields helped to pave the way for an offensive effort which yielded four rushing touchdowns.
