For a second time this year, Tino Sunseri has been named Big East offensive player of the week.
Earlier in the season, Sunseri was named player of the week after throwing for 283 yards and 3 touchdown passes in a 34-17 win over Virginia Tech on September 15. Saturday, against one of the nation's top-15 defenses in Rutgers, Sunseri threw for 227 yards and a pair of touchdown passes.
For the season, he's completed 66 percent of his passes, with 2,892 yards, 18 touchdown passes and just 2 interceptions.
Chryst announced that redshirt freshman safety Steve Williams has been kicked off the team due to disciplinary reasons. Williams came to Pitt as part of Todd Graham's 2011 class. He redshirted last season due to injury in the 2011 offseason. He was a third-team safety for much of the 2012 training camp, even filling in with the second team when needed . A shoulder injury ended his 2012 training camp, and he did not see the field in any of Pitt's 11 games.
Frimpong initially came to Pitt as a corner, before being moved to safety, and then linebacker when Chryst and his staff came in. Despite injuries at linebacker, Frimpong never made it to the field. Ryles also worked with the third team at safety, and filled in with the second team in the latter part of training camp, but never saw the field this season.
With the loss of Williams, Frimpong and Ryles, only 12 players remain of Todd Graham's 20-member 2011 recruiting class.
