Pitt's Zeigler Charged Wth DUI, Suspended

Trey Zeigler transferred in from Central Michigan, and played in all six games averaging 16.8 minutes a game and 6.2 minutes a game.

Pittsburgh guard Trey Zeigler was charged with driving under the influence over the weekend. On Monday, both Zeigler and head coach Jamie Dixon commented on the incident.

Zeigler has been suspended indefinitely by head coach Jamie Dixon.

"The incident involving Trey Zeigler is not only surprising, but incredibly disappointing," Dixon said in a statement. "Although I believe it was out of character for Trey, he has been immediately suspended until further notice. Trey has expressed his deep regret to me and understands and respects the importance of accountability for one's actions."

Zeigler's dad Ernie was a former Pitt assistant under Ben Howland (2001-03) and was most recently the head coach at Central Michigan (2006-12) where Trey played for two years.

"I want to apologize to my family, the University of Pittsburgh, my teammates and coaches and the entire Pittsburgh community," Zeigler said. "This is not indicative of the kind of person I am, nor the kind of person I want to be."
