Sophomore Lineman Attracting Interest

E.J. Donahue already has a couple of schools who have offered him, with several others set to visit his school as early as next week.

He may only be a sophomore, but interest in E.J. Donahue is off and running.

Donahue was invited to Maryland's junior day as a sophomore. West Virginia also came to his school. Both schools like what they see, and have offered.

"I got invited to Maryland's junior day in February," Donahue said. "They came down for a third time and they offered me. West Virginia came down for the first time, last Tuesday. They saw me for a few minutes and they offered me. (Linganore head) coach (Rick) Conner has Nebraska, Wisconsin, Penn State and Pittsburgh all coming in next week.

With Maryland being the first school in on him, the Terps have a nice running start. Greg Gattuso is recruiting him.

"I really like it down there," Donahue said. "I have a good connection with all the coaches. They're great recruiters. Their facilities are really nice. Going into the Big Ten is going to help them with money and eventually get them a new weight room. I really like their fan base. There's a lot of Maryland fans around me.

Donahue touched briefly on Pittsburgh and Wisconsin--citing a couple of schools he'd like to learn more about. Along the lines of some interest from the Big Ten, and Maryland joining the Big Ten, he feels it's opened a door for him that will help him in his recruiting process.

"I like the schools in the Big Ten, I think they have a lot of good offensive linemen," Donahue said. "I definitely want to travel around, go to more schools, definitely meet with more schools.

"Pittsburgh, they're supposed to be coming in. Nebrask and Wisconsin are coming in. I don't really know too much about them, but I'm looking forward to learning more about them."

Aside from football, Donahue is also a crease defenseman for Linganore's lacrosse team. He just started playing lacrosse a year ago.
