Panthers Add Uchebo

Joseph Uchebo battled a knee injury this past season at Chipola College in Florida, but averaged a double-double of 12.3 points and 12.3 rebounds a game.

Pitt got some much needed help to its front court on Monday night, when 6-11 JUCO center Joseph Uchebo joined the 2013 class.

Pitt lost Steven Adams, who declared for the NBA Draft after one year, as well as senior Dante Taylor. Not to mention, 6-11 senior Malcolm Gilbert, transferred out of the program back in December.

Uchebo, a one-time N.C. State commit, visited Minnesota over the weekend, but informed the Pitt coaching staff on Monday he was a Panther.

In addition to Uchebo now giving Pitt four members of the 2013 class, the Panthers get some much-needed help in its front court. Pitt returns only 6-9 senior Talib Zanna from this past year's team. They will get a boost from the addition of Uchebo and incoming 6-8 freshman Mike Young. Uchebo will have three years to play two, but will most likely be counted on to play right away.

Stay tuned for more on the commitment and signing of Uchebo.
