Reports: Dixon Helping Moore Find New School

While Dixon is helping J.J. Moore find a new school, he also says Cameron Wright is enrolled in summer school; temporarily alleviating rumors of his transfer as well.

Following ACC meetings in Amelia Island, Florida, Pitt head basketball coach Jamie Dixon addressed some of the local media--specifically the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Jerry DiPaola and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Sam Werner.

Both DiPaola and Werner reported that Dixon is helping J.J. Moore find a new school, and that Cameron Wright is enrolled in summer classes. Both players have been subject to transfer rumors since Pitt's season ended with a 73-55 loss to Wichita State on March 21. Moore expressed through social media that he was leaving Pitt, thanking Pitt fans. The school, however, has never confirmed Moore's departure until Dixon spoke today.

"We are trying to help him find a school," Dixon told DiPaola on Tuesday. "We are trying to help him find the right place."

With Moore out of the picture, and Wright still on the team for now, that leaves six returning scholarship players to the 2013-14 team (Durand Johnson, Chris Jones, Lamar Patterson, James Robinson, Wright, Talib Zanna).

Throw in the three players who have signed letters of intent--Mike Young, Josh Newkirk and Jamel Artis--that makes nine. Pitt got a commitment last week from JUCO center Joseph Uchebo, making it ten.

Then there's official word we're waiting on for a pair of transfers. Former Marshall guard and local standout DeAndre Kane is expected to transfer in for one more season of eligibility. He is currently finishing out two classes at Marshall, then will be able to play at Pitt right away. Former Villanova guard Achraf Yacoubou is scheduled to visit this week.

Should Pitt get both Kane (which is pretty much a done deal) and Yacoubou, that would give Dixon his 12 scholarship players.
