2016 Shooting Guard Commits To Panthers

Midland (PA) Lincoln Park guard Maverick Rowan committed to Pittsburgh on Sunday evening.

Pitt's basketball program has been hit hard with transfers, losing Trey Zeigler (TCU) and J.J. Moore (Rutgers). The Panthers also lost freshman center Steven Adams to the NBA Draft.

Jamie Dixon got some much-needed good news on Sunday night, when 6-5 guard Maverick Rowan, out of nearby Lincoln Park, committed to the Panthers.

Rowan just finished his freshman year, where he helped guided the Leopards to a 23-7 overall record, advancing to the PIAA State Semi-finals.

"Committed to the University of Pittsburgh #H2P #HardWorkPaysOff #BallisLife #Pitt," Rowan tweeted.

When asked to confirm his commitment to Panther Digest, Rowan texted, "Thank you! Can I speak to you later? I'm about to work out,"

Clearly, a kid who doesn't like to sit around, striving for a workout after making an early college decision.

Rowan averaged 23 points a game as a freshman.

Stay tuned for more from Rowan on his decision to join the Panthers.
