SPK LAW 95 GNC 84
A high-scoring affair in game one, as SPK Law advanced with a 95-84 win.
Pitt freshman Mike Young led the way for SPK with 36 points and 15 rebounds, the most points scored by any player this summer.
Young also got help from Pitt teammate, Mike Lecak, who finished with 19 points and six assists--a career-high in his two years in the league.
Shooting was even between both teams. Both converted 35 field goals apiece, on the night. SPK converted nine three-pointers. While GNC converted eight. Lecank converted 5-6 three-pointers. Credit Young's strong game on both ends, which also led to a 35-29 edge in rebounding as the difference.
Davidson, and Sewickley Academy graduate, Tom Droney also chipped in 13 points, five rebounds and five assists in the win.
THE LAIR 75 UPMC 52
UPMC shot just 19-58 from the floor, while The Lair got help from five players in double-figures. The Lair advances with a 75-52 win.
Aside from Soko's dominance, UPMC was done in by a 2-18 performance from three-point range.
In the loss, Pitt's Durand Johnson finished with 14 points. Freshmen Jamel Artis and Josh Newkirk finished with 14 points and seven points, respectively. Lucky Jones led UPMC, overall, with 21 points in the loss.
PGT TRUCKING 76 OLIVERIO'S PEPPERS 67
Talib Zanna and James Robinson almost single-handedly won it for PGT. However, they also got a nice effort from Elijah Thompson, in a 76-67 win over Oliverio's Peppers.
Zanna led the way with 29 points and 17 rebounds. Robinson, still fresh off helping the Team USA U-19 team to a Gold Medal at the World Basketball Championships earlier this month, finished with 17 points and four assists. Thompson added another 16 in the win.
PGT was also able to overcome Robinson's ten turnovers.
The Pro-Am League moves on to Tuesday's night's semifinal matchups, followed by Wednesday's championship round.
