Video: Quarterbacks Talk Competition

Hear from Pitt quarterbacks Tom Savage and Chad Voytik talk about the start of training camp, not competing against each other for the starting job--but against themselves.

Paul Chryst is in no rush to name a starting quarterback, as training camp starts.

When asked about a deciding factor, or what he may be looking for one quarterback to do over the other, he has a simple answer.

"You're really competing against yourself," Chryst said. "Even it's a perceived competition, how do they handle it. I don't think either guy is kicking back."

For Tom Savage, it's a chance for him to see the field for the first time since October of 2010, when he was a sophomore at Rutgers. After transferring to Arizona, then joint Pitt as a walk-on after their coaching change, Savage had to sit out another year in 2012, learning Pitt's system.

For Chad Voytik, he's coming off his redshirt year--something that's tough at first for a lot of freshmen to take, but something he says he's all the more grateful for at this point.
