Malik Russell is a 5-10, 170-pound corner out of Penn Hills High School.
This past season, Russell finished with 32 tackles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
"My junior season was excellent," Russell said. "I had a decent season. We have a pretty big class coming back."
Russell has seen a former Penn Hills standout in Aaron Donald, get a heavy amount of interest recently. Donald swept all the major awards--not just for a defensive lineman, but defensive play overall. What does that mean to Russell, seeing a person like that come from his high school?
"It means a lot, it means that the guy wants it," Russell said. "You have to keep going, keep working. It's what you do as a football player."
Up next for Russell, obviously the offseason. He's already looking ahead to the 7-on-7 schedule, and he hopes to go to camps at Pittsburgh and wherever his 7-on-7 team goes.
"I'm trying to keep my eye on a lot of MAC schools, even the new conference. The AAC," Russell said. "There's a lot of schools I'm taking a look at.
Russell will also run track this spring, looking to add to his portfolio of skills.
