Pittsburgh Pro-Am League: Monday results

Sheldon Jeter and Cameron Johnson, two members of Pitt's 2014 signing class, impressive in their Pro-Am debuts.

Pittsburgh sophomore Josh Newkirk put on a clinic in Monday's opening game, putting up 34 points, in his team's 110-87 win.

In addition to shooting 13-24 from the field, Newkirk also dished out eight assists. His pointe were the most from any player on Monday night, while his eight assists were second.

Newkirk's Pitt teammate Derrick Randall, is also a teammate for PGT. Randall finished with a double-double of 22 points and 15 rebounds, on a 10-12 shooting performance. Randall led all rebounders on Monday.

Lucky Jones also had a big night for PGT, putting in 28 points, on 11-17 shooting, including a 4-8 performance from three-point range.

Despite the loss, Shale Attorney had five players in double-figures led by Charles Oliver with 26 points. Pitt's Aron Nwonkwo finished with 15.

System One 85 GNC 80
System One was able to hold off GNC in its opener, led by Marquese Reed with 23 points. Pitt's Mike Young finished with 21 in the win, on 8-13 shooting. Jevon Carter (15), Aaron Tate (14) and L.G. Gill (12) also finished in double-figures.

On the losing side, for GNC, Karvel Anderson finished with 25 points.

South Hills Audi featured the debut of a pair of Pitt players, in Sheldon Jeter and Cameron Johnson. Johnson got out of the gate with 15 quick points, on his way to a team-high 24. Johnson, a local product who signed with Pitt last month, shot 9-16 from the floor, including 4-9 from three-point range.

Jeter, coming in as a JUCO transfer, finished with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Special for Jeter, the opportunity to play alongside his cousin Lance Jeter, for the first time. Lance had nine assists, the most of any player on Monday night, adding 14 points.

Brandon Watkins led the way for Bakery Square with 29 points, in the losing effort. Pitt's Joseph Uchebo finished with a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds--second-highest rebounding output for any player on Monday night.

Pitt's Jamel Artis paced UPMC with 21 points, in a 19-point win. Artis shot 9-16 from the field, including 3-6 from three-point range, and also had a team-high seven rebounds.

Pitt's Chris Jones finished with 14 points in the win.

Despite only having six players, four of six players for CRONS finished in double-figures, led by Devin Williams, who had a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. Elijah Minnie also finished with a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds, in the loss.
