James Conner earned ACC Back of the Week for a second week in a row, after a career-high 36 carries for 214 yards and a touchdown, the second 200-yard game of his career.
"We feel like we've got a pretty good gauge for workloads," head coach Paul Chryst said. "We needed it, and (Conner) was rolling pretty good. I thought it was alright.
Through two games, Conner ranks fourth nationally with an average of 183.5 yards a game. He leads the ACC and ranks fifth nationally in scoring, averaging 15 points a game. In his last three games, he's averaging 198.7 rushing yards per game.
Conner was also named Athlon Sports' ACC Offensive Player of the Week.
For a second week in a row, a Pitt offensive lineman was named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week. Last week, Matt Rotheram earned the honor. This week, the honor went to T.J. Clemmings. The line has yet to give up a sack this season, while paving the way for 356 rushing yards per game in two games, fourth nationally. The Panthers rushed for 305 yards Friday at Boston College.
"I think (the offensive line) has been trying to be physical," Chryst said. "I think they've been doing a pretty good job of sorting things out. We saw a lot of stuff Friday night."
Sophomore kicker Chris Blewitt was named ACC Specialist of the Week. Blewitt tied a career-high with 12 points on Friday, which included field goals of 49, 42 and 41. The 49-yarder is a career-long. Blewitt also had four of seven kickoffs go for touchbacks. For the season, he's 11-12 on PATs, a perfect 3-3 on field goals, with nine kickoffs for touchbacks.
