The panthers take on a South Florida Bulls team Saturday that lost last week 20-17 to Northern Illinois. South Florida is a very young team that starts 4 Freshmen and 3 Sophomores on offense. Just on the o-line. They start 3 Freshmen. This is the first year of moving up to division-1 football for South Florida and they are going through the expected growing pains. On defense the Bulls return only 4 starters and lost all 4 secondary starters. From the Panthers side of things, expect them to look much more sharp at the start of this contest. Last week they admitted they were rattled by the large crowd and kickoff for the new stadium. They should be settled in now for the second game so expect a much better focused team overall. The new starters for Pitt last week (Petitti, Bosnic, Kirkley, McMurray, Moore and Cox) all performed well, plus the fact that the coaches always say that a team improves the most from the first game to the second, so you should expect a much better performance. The big question on the Pitt side is will Antonio Bryant play this week. There is absolutely no reason to play him this week if he isn't healthy. He will be needed for the UAB game the week after and we can't afford to be without his services. Although coach Harris will most likely hold the game plan down to be careful not to show UAB and future opponents too much, I do expect a much more impressive performance.
Prediction: Pitt - 42
South Florida - 6
