For the second consecutive season, Pitt men's basketball placed four players on the year's All-ACC Academic Team. Ryan Luther, Cameron Johnson, Rafael Maia and Damon Wilson were among the 26 student-athletes honored by the conference.
Each player is a first-time honoree as Maia, a graduate transfer, and the freshman Wilson played their first seasons at Pitt. Local products Luther, a sophomore out of Hampton, and Johnson, a redshirt freshman from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Moon Township, also earned recognition for the first time.
Pitt's four players mark the second-highest total among ACC teams. The Panthers have placed 11 players on the team since joining the league in 2014.
Student-athletes must achieve a 3.00 grade-point average in the previous semester and maintain a 3.00 cumulative GPA to be eligible for consideration.
North Carolina guard Marcus Paige won the Skip Prosser Award, which honors academic and athletic achievement, for the second consecutive season after Cam Wright was the recipient in 2013.
