Notebook: Pitt Spring Practice 3/19

News and notes from Pitt's third spring practice.

Pitt practiced for the third time this spring, but today's drills were a first; the Panthers practiced at Heinz Field Saturday morning.

Sept. 3's opener against Villanova is still nearly six months away, but playing in the stadium has to make it feel just a little bit closer. Plus, practicing on the North Side could provide a spark to the players--not to indicate the Panthers need it, but any extra energy is probably appreciated by the coaching staff.

Weather permitting, the Panthers intend to practice at Heinz Field on each Saturday of the spring period which, including next month's Blue-Gold Spring Game, will make for four practices at the team's home field.

-- On the injury front, defensive tackle Tyrique Jarrett was out of his boot and back in practice today. Head coach Pat Narduzzi said he had a minor toe injury earlier this week and didn't want to push him.

Allen Edwards was still in a boot and out of practice with an unspecified injury. Also new, wide receiver Dontez Ford sported a yellow non-contact pinnie over his jersey and was sidelined during today's practice.
