SOUTH SIDE--Pitt released its two-deep Monday morning. Contained within are the names of two freshmen who have yet to play a down.
Cornerback Damar Hamlin is listed below Avonte Maddox, who left Saturday's game against Georgia Tech with an undisclosed injury, and Dane Jackson, who took Maddox's place when he left the field. Additionally, cornerback Therran Coleman is listed below Ryan Lewis and Phillipie Motley.
Hamlin was sidelined for the majority of the fall with an unknown injury. He dressed and practiced last week for the first time all season.
Coleman played scout team quarterback last week to help the Pitt defense prepare for Georgia Tech's triple option. A Brashear High School product, Coleman ran the show at quarterback in high school under Brashear's triple option offense.
He's back at cornerback this week.
"Damar and Therran, the last couple weeks, they've really been battling back and forth," Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi said Monday at Pitt's South Side practice facility. "They're just getting closer. They're freshmen, we'll see how close they are."
