Have Panthers Found Their Offensive Coordinator?

A source has told Pitt Insider that Pittsburgh is interviewing a strong candidate for the Offensive Coordinator position left open when J.D. Brookhart left to be the head coach at Akron. And that the job is his if he wants it.

Tulane Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach Frank Scelfo is currently in Pittsburgh interviewing for the Offensive Coordinator position left open when J.D. Brookhart left to be the head coach at Akron. And that the job is his if he wants it.

Scelfo is the brother of Tulane head coach Chris Scelfo and has been on the Tulane staff for eight years. He has been the Quarterbacks Coach since 1999 and added Offensive Coordinator to his title in 2001.

Under his direction, Tulane has developed three star quarterbacks in Shaun King, Patrick Ramsey, and J.P. Losman, as well as running back Mewelde Moore and wide receiver JaJuan Dawson. Ramsey is Tulane's all-time leader in passing yardage, Moore is the all-time rushing leader, and Dawson is the all-time touchdown-receiving leader.

Scelfo is a resident of New Iberia, LA and is a few days short of his 44th birthday. He played football at Northeast Louisiana and was the school's 1981 Athlete of the Year. Tulane is the only college he has coached at.
