Who holds the keys to this Gremlin?

The Keystone Shortway Conference in Armstrong County, Pa. is not known as a hot bed for Division 1 Football talent. Then along came Karns City Gremlin star David Black 6-2,180, 4.5 which has now made The District 9 conference a place for recruiters and scouts to visit more often than they had planned on.

Black is a WR/DB this season in which he had 30 receptions for 402 yards. Defensively as a sophomore 4 int's, as a Junior 4 int's 42 tackles and only allowed 2 receptions for 16 yards as the leader of coach Ed Contos' stout defense.

David has a favorite player, it happens to be Pittsburgh's Larry Fitzgerald. "The guy is unreal," says Black. But as much as he might aspire to be a big time wide receiver, David realizes his future is as a DB.

"Right now I play CB, but in college, I will be a Safety."

David Black is currently receiving early interest from Wisconsin, Boston College, Penn State, Syracuse and Iowa.

So, who are David's early favorite's?

Penn State, South Carolina, Pitt, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Why is Pitt Listed? "Just because you write for a Pitt site, doesn't mean I have to say Pitt." Black explained, "I really do like Pitt, and I watch them all the time."

David has an older brother who attends Penn State, but he says that wont sway his mind in any direction. He has attended the Metro-Index Camp in Pittsburgh and was invited to attend the Nike Camp May 15th at Penn State.

When will he make a choice? "Well, if one of the schools I like offers early, I'll probably decide early."

He was named to The Keystone Shortway All-Conference team, Butler Eagle Sweet 16 All-Star, Armstrong County Leader Times 1st Team and Pennsylvania Football News honorable mention. He benches 250 pounds, squats 305, and has a 30" vertical.

Does he stop after football?

No not David, he is currently playing Basketball, he plays outfield on the baseball team, runs the 100,200, 4x100 Relay and rotates between the Long and triple jumps.

Perhaps the most impressive statistic about young David Black besides juggling 4 sports, he also excels in the classroom as he is a 4.0 student and has already scored 1030 on his SATS.
