Ohio shutdown corner weighing his options

Ohio has an abundance of defensive backs in the class of 2005. Among those are Jemario O'Neal, Brad Jones, Bryan Williams, Adam Myers-White, Marcus Council, just to name a few. The best of the bunch may be Chaminade-Julienne's CB 5-10/ 200 Brandon Harrison.

Brandon Harrison will be counted on heavily this season to provide leadership on both sides of the ball for coach Jim Place's Eagle squad. On offense he will split time with another Blue chip prospect, RB Javon Ringer.

Brandon runs a gazelle-like 4.35 forty, bench's 315, squats 550 and has a 3.1 GPA. He is being recruited by Iowa, Pittsburgh, Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan. Iowa has offered Brandon a scholarship already.

Harrison had 78 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 4 touchdowns in 2003. He also returned a kickoff and a punt for scores. He was named 1st team All-District, 1st Team All-GCL, and 2nd team Div-2 Ohio All-State. During the spring Brandon runs the 100 and 200 for the Chaminade track team.

PittInsider interviewed Harrison recently, here's what the talented youngster had to say.

Are you favoring any particular team right now?

"No, it's too early, I am interested in Iowa; I guess because they were the first ones to offer me."

Describe to me how Brandon Harrison plays the game?

"I am physical, I love playing press coverage, man to man; I like to stand the receiver up at the line of scrimmage."

Being a cover corner, how do you recover mentally if you give up a big pay?

"I just try and forget about it and move on to the next play. Coach Place tells me I have to have a short memory - come back and try my best."

Who from the NFL or NCAA do you try to pattern your game after?

"Charles Woodson, for his coverage ability, and John Lynch, for his physical play, he'll knock you out."

What are you looking for in selecting a school?

"I want to go somewhere I can play early. I want to feel a relaxed atmosphere with the team and the coaches. I want be somewhere that everyone works together and gets along."

Tell us something about Brandon Harrison that we might not know?

"I am just an all around good guy; I do anything my coaches ask of me. I don't back talk; I am very well grounded."

When do you plan on making your decision?

"I am hoping to do it soon, maybe before the season starts."

Are you going to any camps or combines?

"I am going to the Nike camp in Michigan, a one day camp at Ohio State, I may go to Texas or somewhere else."

OK Brandon, thank you for your time and the best of luck to you this season!

"Thank you, sir."
