LaRod is currently enjoying a strong post-season for the Trojan wrestling team. He advanced from the District 6 AAA finals and will now wrestle in the regional state-qualifying tournament. LaRod pinned his first opponent in 18 seconds wrestling in the 155-pound weight class.
LaRod Stephens has been invited to the University of Pittsburgh's junior days on March 6th and Ohio University and Princeton have invited him to their respective campuses. Maryland has now entered the race for the two way star. Indiana and Penn State had originally showed interest and have begun to pick up their efforts in hope of landing the Associated Press All-State AAA selection.
Johnstown coaches are in the process of trying to secure an invite to the Nike camp at Penn State for LaRod on May 15th. He may also attend Joe Butler's Metro-Index camp. The small but powerful Stephens had 2,226 yards and 23 touchdowns for the Trojans and will be one of the most watched prospects in the state this season.
