Nation's elite programs eyeing up Florida FB

Miami, FL - The University of Pittsburgh has had good luck in the past at Northwestern High School. The last two players who came to Pittsburgh via Northwestern, WR Antonio Bryant and CB Torrie Cox, are now playing on Sundays. The Panthers are now hot on the trail of FB Adam Coffee 6-2, 237, 4.6. They will have to get in line for his services.

Currently the 2nd Team All-Dade County selection is being courted by Miami, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, LSU, Pittsburgh, Iowa, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Wisconsin and Nebraska. Many schools are recruiting Adam as a fullback and as a linebacker. During the 2003 season Coffee had 365 yards rushing, while making 89 tackles and 7 sacks.

Adam did grow up as a Miami Hurricane fan, but travel is not an issue for him. He is planning on attending the Nike Camp at Miami, and the Miami Day Camp. Coffee also excels on the track and field squad where he throws the shot and discus.

When asked to pick a player he tries to emulate?

"I like Ray Lewis on defense, and Mike Alstott on offense."

With his size, speed and strength (325 bench and 495 squat), Adam Coffee will be a much sought after prospect. He is scheduled to take his SAT in a couple of weeks and carries a 3.8 GPA.

With all of the great physical attributes, how would Adam describe his play?

"I am very quick for my size; I play hard and fast; I am physically aggressive and smart."

Coffee's top five schools right now are Miami, Florida State, Florida, Iowa, and NC State. These schools are following closely and are still in the mix with Pittsburgh, LSU, and Michigan. Adam has said he will more than likely wait until the end of the season to make his selection.
