1st Pennsylvania prospect to make verbal commit

The University of Maryland held their junior day Saturday, and on Tuesday it had already paid dividends. The 6-5, 325 OT David McClain of Central Bucks East phoned the Terrapin coaching staff at 10:00pm on Tuesday and announced his verbal pledge to play for the Terrapins.

This is surprising considering that Maryland wasn't in David's Top 5 a month ago. At that time he was favoring Penn State, Virginia, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse.

According to McClain's brother Bo, "David had the offer and just felt that Maryland was the right place for him."

Pitt Insider will follow up with David to see if he still plans on taking his visits. He was invited to The University of Pittsburgh's junior days on March 6th.

David will begin playing for his new school, Central Bucks South, this August. McClain is the first prospect in Pennsylvania to give his verbal commitment.
