Portsmouth DE receiving offers

Portsmouth, OH - During the month of March, several schools hold their first of many junior days. Most schools have as many as 3-4 such events, where they invite prospective recruits to their universities. The visits are considered unofficial; a player can basically see a school without it counting against his 5 allotted NCAA official visits.

Portsmouth High School DE/TE Tyler Clifford 6-4, 215, 4.7 has been invited to Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Ohio University Junior Day events. Pittsburgh and Cincinnati Junior Days were held on March 6th. Tyler attended Cincinnati. He is going to go to the next one held by Pittsburgh if his schedule allows. He will likely attend Ohio State and Ohio University's as well.

Tyler has received written scholarship offers from Kent State and Toledo. Several schools are showing interest in him including Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Marshall, Purdue, Ohio State, Ohio University and Iowa. During the summer Tyler hopes to camp at Ohio State, Iowa, and possibly Michigan. As for his favorites, Ohio State and Michigan are his top two, followed by Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and Iowa. On the outside looking in but not out of the hunt are Toledo and Marshall.

Clifford was named 1st Team All-State Division 4 as a defensive end, All South East Ohio District Team, and All Area for Scioto County. He has received interest as a TE and DE. As for which position he prefers:

"I like DE, if I go to a team that throws the ball I wouldn't mind playing TE."

Tyler's goals for the 2004 season: "I want to win a state championship."

Being a lean pass-rushing defensive end, it's easy to guess who Tyler's favorite NFL players are!

" I like Jevon Kearse and Jason Taylor, they are both long and lean and they get after the ball."

How does Tyler Clifford describe his play?

"I go all-out every play, I am fast and aggressive. I go until I hear the whistle blow."
